**IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TAX APPOINTMENT**

The health and safety of our clients and staff is the foundation of our business.  Due to the unprecedented circumstances posed by the COVID-19 outbreak, our team at Boelman Shaw is taking steps to do our part to help slow the spread.  Starting Tuesday, March 17th, we will begin offering only drop-off, mail-in, or secure portal tax preparation.  In-person appointments will not be available.  It is imperative we receive your information on time so our staff has time to complete your return.

Option #1 Drop off or mail in your information to the office

  • Prior to your scheduled appointment, stop by the office and give your documents to the reception staff. They will confirm your contact information.
  • Your regular preparer will complete your tax return.
  • Your preparer will contact you by phone or email to discuss any questions or outstanding items.
  • To complete the process, you can choose to sign the return electronically via DocuSign or we can mail the completed return to you to sign manually and return to us for e-filing.

Option #2 Upload your information to our secure portal

  • If you’ve never used our portal before, please call the office for a quick set-up email.
  • Then prior to your scheduled appointment time, log into the secure portal (www.officetoolsportal.com) and upload your documents to the attention of your preparer.
  • Your regular preparer will complete your tax return.
  • Your preparer will contact you by phone or email to discuss any questions or outstanding items.
  • To complete the process, you can choose to sign the return electronically via DocuSign or we can mail the completed return to you to sign manually and return to us for e-filing.

**STIMULUS PAYMENT CHECKS**

As you have no doubt seen in the news, Congress is on the verge of signing into law a massive stimulus package with the aim of countering the economic harm of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many clients are raising questions about how they can assure they receive their portion of the funds. As of now, the package has not been finalized, so we are monitoring the situation closely. Once signed into law, we’ll need to evaluate the final rules and requirements for how it will be enacted and formulate a plan to help our clients comply. It’s too early to speculate what that may entail. The IRS has set up a page on their website to keep you informed of any changes having to do with the corona virus outbreak.
